STAIN

Darla Cady

Your words draw blood
You carve me
Into whatever amuses you
Sneering blade of cynicism
Eats my flesh
Sarcasm's mocking sword
Drinks my tears
You have wielded these weapons so long
You don't even notice
How sharp they are
How deeply they cut
You slash muscle and bone
Rip my heart to shreds
And expect me
To apologize
For bleeding all over your hands
Blood
Spatters my face
Drips from my hair
And you laugh,
and claim
it is only
a crown of
Liquid roses
