ometimes
when birds sing
I am thankful for melodious music
I am Snow White
surrounded
by my woodland friends
I stroke their velvet feathers as
They perch on my shoulders
And sing to me
Sometimes when birds sing…
Shrill squawking annoys me
How dare they be so cheerful?
I grab them
by ragged wings
and feed them to my dogs
to stifle their screeching
Sometimes
when birds sing
their songs go unnoticed
because I am too happy
or too sad
to hear
